  • In Heating Mode: The outdoor coil extracts heat from the outside air (even when it’s cold). The refrigerant absorbs this heat, is pressurized by the compressor to become a hot gas, and then releases the heat inside your home via the indoor coil.
  • In Cooling Mode: The process reverses. The indoor coil absorbs heat from inside your home, and the refrigerant carries it to the outdoor coil, where it’s released outside. This dual function provides year-round comfort from a single system.
