Professional Heat Pump Installation You Can Trust
As with any appliance or system in your home, maintenance is critical. Properly maintaining your heat pump will maximize its efficiency and increase its lifespan. We recommend professional tune-ups twice-yearly, but there are some tasks you can do in between maintenance appointments.
Keep the outdoor unit clear of any dirt, debris, grass clippings, and leaves.
With light pressure, use a hose and soft brush to clear the aluminum fins on the outdoor unit of airborne debris. Be careful not to bend the fins.
Monitor the thermostat to make sure it is working correctly. Ideally, the heat pump should turn on when the temperature dips below or above the set temp (depending on whether you are heating or cooling). The fan should run on auto.
Most importantly, at the first sign of any issue, call Jame Thomas Heating & Cooling, the sooner we get to work fixing your heat pump, the better.
A common question regarding heat pumps is that the air from the registers feels cool even when it is set to heat. When operating normally, the heat pump delivers 20 degrees warmer air than the temperature set on the thermostat – an average of 70 degrees. Because body temperature is 98.6, 90-degree air will feel incredible. Also, a heat pump goes into defrost mode approximately every 90 minutes. During defrost mode, the unit delivers cold air into the home and warm air to the outside unit. Once defrost is over, the air heats up again.
New Heat Pump Installation & Replacement
How do you know if a heat pump is the right system for your house? In the summer months, it acts like an air conditioner. During winter, it works in reverse and heats the inside of your home. Heat pumps need auxiliary heat (electric heat strips or gas furnace) when the temperature drops below 42 degrees in the North Georgia Mountains.
Initially, the investment in a new heat pump is more than for an AC system, but you’ll benefit from a huge reduction in winter energy costs. Our experts will consider your home’s heating and cooling needs and help you decide if a heat pump is right.
When you are ready to install a new heat pump, we’ll walk you through the process and answer any questions you might have. We are happy to work around your busy schedule to find the best time for you. Every member of our team has the training and experience to make sure your new unit is correctly installed. When we are done, all you have to do is enjoy the improved efficiency and energy cost savings. Call us today for a free estimate on a new heat pump near you.
